Backend Engineer — Integrations (Senior/Staff)

Revin•New York, NY
•$225,000 - $325,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Revin is hiring Senior- and Staff-level Backend Engineers for its Integrations team. The role builds backend systems that let AI agents operate within the business software used by home-services companies. It focuses on translating CRM changes into timely agent actions and providing reliable ways to look up information, book appointments, and update customer records. This is a backend and distributed-systems role with direct product impact. The team builds custom integrations with platforms including ServiceTitan, LeadPerfection, AccuLynx, Salesforce, i360, Builder Prime, and SalesRabbit. Revin’s backend is primarily Python and PostgreSQL, with asynchronous services and event-driven processing. At Staff level, the engineer will also guide architecture across the integrations platform, establish stronger patterns, and raise team effectiveness while remaining hands-on. The position is based in Revin’s Flatiron, New York City office, with four days per week in the office and one remote day; flexibility is available when life comes up. Compensation is $225,000–$325,000 base salary, with final compensation dependent on level, experience, ownership scope, and impact, plus meaningful early equity.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience building and operating production backend systems, including the ability to explain systems owned, design decisions, failure behavior, and improvements made.
  • Strong distributed-systems judgment and experience with asynchronous processing, queues or streams, concurrency, consistency, and retries.
  • Experience building reliable integrations with external APIs and reasoning about their constraints, unfamiliar data models, and business rules.
  • Strong programming and SQL skills, including comfort with data modeling, transactions, and production debugging.
  • Ability to work effectively in a Python backend; depth of understanding and execution is valued over familiarity with a particular framework.
  • Ownership and clear communication: investigate problems end to end, surface risks early, and explain technical tradeoffs in terms of customer and team needs.
  • Desire to work in an early-stage startup, with comfort in broad responsibility, rapid iteration, and high standards.
  • Effective use of AI programming tools while owning the quality of the work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CRM, scheduling, payments, or other operational systems where data correctness and reliable actions matter.
  • Experience with change data capture, synchronization, backfills, or reconciliation across external systems.
  • Experience building tools or APIs used by AI agents.
  • Experience at a strong startup or on a small team with substantial ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Design reliable event processing, addressing ordering, deduplication, retries, rate limits, concurrency, and backpressure; build recovery and replay paths that preserve correctness.
  • Design dependable APIs and services for CRM actions, validating inputs and results and handling partial failures and uncertain write outcomes without duplicate or inconsistent records.
  • Build and deepen integrations by understanding partner APIs and customer workflows, adding capabilities, and developing shared components that are easier to extend and maintain.
  • Protect data integrity and customer boundaries through sound data models, secure authentication and credential handling, and correct routing across customer accounts, brands, and locations.
  • Own production reliability by instrumenting data freshness, processing lag, and action success; making failures diagnosable; and building tests, alerts, reconciliation, and recovery tools.
  • Partner with agents engineers, product, and forward-deployed engineers to prioritize customer needs and make tradeoffs around correctness, latency, complexity, and cost.
  • At Staff level, guide architecture across the integrations platform, establish stronger patterns for event processing and external actions, and improve the broader team’s effectiveness while remaining hands-on.

Benefits

  • Meaningful early equity ownership.
  • $0 employee premiums for individual medical coverage on most plans.
  • Dental and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) matching up to 4% of salary; contribute 5% to receive the full match.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Free lunches and dinners in the office.
  • $100/month gym membership stipend.
  • Tech equipment of your choice.
