About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Backend Engineer to join our remote team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, enhancing, and maintaining backend systems that support our core applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions that meet the needs of our users.

Requirements

Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Ruby.
Familiarity with web frameworks and RESTful API design principles.
Understanding of database management systems, both SQL and NoSQL, and their application in backend architectures.
Basic knowledge of cloud services and platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) as they relate to backend development.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems, particularly Git.
Exposure to microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
Interest in learning about new technologies and applying them to improve our backend systems.
Prior involvement in open-source projects or contributions to community forums.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs to support application functionality.
Collaborate with frontend engineers and product managers to create seamless integrations between the backend and user interfaces.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to team best practices, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, bugs, and other technical challenges in a timely manner.
Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for backend services, APIs, and system architecture.
Continuously learn and apply best practices in software development, including testing, version control, and deployment processes.
