About The Position

Turing is hiring a Backend Engineer for its Enterprise AI team in New York City, in the Madison Square Park area. The role reports to the Head of Engineering, Enterprise AI and follows a hybrid work model with regular in-office presence. The team is building a platform that enables enterprises to deploy and operate AI systems in production. The engineer will build and operate backend services and APIs for agent orchestration, model routing, enterprise integrations, identity and permissions, evaluation systems, and usage metering. The role also involves developing production LLM applications, hardening the platform for secure multi-tenant enterprise use, and enabling customers to configure and operate AI systems with greater independence. This is a production engineering role requiring end-to-end ownership of backend product features, from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, observability, and ongoing operation. The work emphasizes reusable services, connectors, and agent capabilities that scale across customers.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer working on production SaaS or enterprise platforms.
  • Deep experience with Python or TypeScript services, API design, asynchronous job systems, and production operations.
  • Hands-on experience with OAuth, OIDC, SAML, or SCIM, as well as multi-tenant data modeling and access control.
  • Experience building production LLM features involving tool use, agent loops, retrieval, prompt versioning, or agent versioning.
  • Experience integrating with document stores, ticketing systems, data platforms, or other enterprise systems.
  • A track record of shipping LLM features used by paying customers and owning production systems after launch.
  • Must have owned production software; experience limited to notebooks, demos, or early prototypes is not sufficient.
  • Must have multi-tenant and production ownership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on agent framework internals.
  • Experience implementing SOC 2 or similar controls.
  • Experience building integrations for financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Experience building on OpenAI or Anthropic APIs in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs supporting agent orchestration, model routing, enterprise integrations, permissions, evaluation, and usage metering.
  • Develop production systems using tool use, agent loops, retrieval, prompt versioning, and agent versioning.
  • Build and maintain integrations with document stores, ticketing systems, data platforms, and other enterprise systems.
  • Design data models, identity systems, permissions, and service boundaries for secure multi-tenant operation.
  • Own features from architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and ongoing operation.
  • Create reusable connectors, services, and agent capabilities for use across customers.
