The Backend / API Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of secure, scalable, and high-performance backend services and APIs that underpin the client's platform. This role is central to enabling the integration of cloud-based, IoT-enabled, and role-based access control (RBAC) functionalities required for the modernization of client's radiation exposure management. The engineer works closely with product owners, solution architects, and cross-functional development teams to implement robust backend modules supporting dosimeter data ingestion, inventory management, personnel exposure tracking, and organizational hierarchy workflows. The position requires deep technical expertise in developing RESTful APIs, microservices, and data pipelines that interface with AWS GovCloud, Greengrass IoT gateways, and secure networks. The Backend / API Engineer ensures all backend components adhere to cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance requirements, including IL4, FedRAMP, and RMF controls, and supports the implementation of DevSecOps practices for continuous integration, automated testing, and secure deployment. The engineer is responsible for maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, supporting data migration from legacy systems, and ensuring that all backend services are auditable, resilient, and aligned with the mission-critical needs of operational communities. This role is essential for delivering a unified, reliable, and secure backend infrastructure that enables client to support complex user workflows, real-time data processing, and regulatory reporting across a geographically distributed enterprise.
