About The Position
This position is responsible for handling livestock in a hog yard environment. Duties include sorting, counting, weighing, tattooing, and penning all animals. The role involves learning Tyson Pork Procurement Programs, carcass merit, kill sheet information, weight docks, and other buying procedures. The Associate Hog Buyer also serves as a station relief buyer, providing training and vacation relief in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
- Livestock experience required.
- Swine or cattle experience preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate efficiently with drivers.
- Highly motivated in running a successful business.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Overnight travel required.
- Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in animal science or agriculture preferred.
