About The Position

BEMAC is seeking qualified B-Pressure Welders to join their on-site Construction team for a 2-month project near Fort MacKay, Alberta. This role involves working on the Imperial Oil (IOL) Kearl Lake Sodium Citrate Injection Process System. The position is based in a remote camp with a 21 days on, 7 days off rotation, working 10-hour days. While local candidates are preferred, fly-in, fly-out options from Edmonton or Calgary are available for eligible candidates.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Red Seal level Welder
  • B-Pressure certification from ABSA or equivalent
  • Able to weld pipe with E6010 single sided
  • Have welding tickets all position P1-P15 material
  • Have welding ticket all position structural welding from CWB
  • Able to read and understand project welding procedures & NDE records
  • Able to do visual inspection of his/her own weld after completion of welding
  • Able to check weld fillet gauges as required by drawings
  • Able to check preheat and interpass temperature requirements
  • Strong technical knowledge and proven experience as a Rig Welder
  • Experience in an industrial setting required
  • Successful clearance of applicable pre-employment checks which may include Criminal Background/Police Information check, Drug & Alcohol test, Reference checks as well as submittal of Provincial Driver’s Abstract.
  • Standard HSE certifications may be required including WHMIS, Fall Arrest, First Aid etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW)
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
  • Operate previously set up welding machines such as spot, butt and seam resistance or gas and arc welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts
  • Operate previously set up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal parts or to fill holes, indentations and seams of metal articles with solder
  • Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production line
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment
  • May adjust welding heads and tooling according to work specifications.
