About The Position

This position is responsible for all aspects of the election process. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, attentive to detail, and possess multiple computer skills. This role requires coordination with the County Clerk/Chief Deputy on job duties, including planning, problem resolution, training poll officials, and polling location preparation/scheduling. The employee will care for and maintain electronic tabulating machines (voting machines), tubs, ballot boxes, and voting machine keys, and schedule machines for delivery and pick up. This employee will organize voting machines for certification and test vote machines for functionality. The position involves registering and assisting voters, performing routine maintenance of the voter file, responding to public requests, issuing voter-related materials, and implementing NM Statutes. The ability to read a map and determine precinct/district assignments is necessary. The role includes assisting the absentee early voting board during elections. Responsibilities also extend to assisting and working with the public and co-workers in all aspects of the Clerk’s Office, including answering the telephone, issuing marriage licenses, real estate filings, and scanning documents. The employee may work alone or with others, with or without direction, and with the public. The position requires becoming a certified voting machine technician (training provided). The employee will be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
