About The Position

The City of Farmington is seeking a B & M Maintenance Technician to join the General Services Department. This is a regular, full-time position working Monday through Friday, located at the MOC Building Maintenance. The role involves repairing and maintaining structures and equipment at City-owned facilities, performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, and participating in remodeling and small construction projects. The technician will also perform routine building and grounds inspections for preventative maintenance and operate a wide range of vehicles and motorized equipment.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
Two (2) years of experience in building maintenance
Valid New Mexico's driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years
Must possess strong computer skills
This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Program.
Extensive background checks required.
A pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test is required for this position.

Responsibilities

Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.
Works under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent.
May supervise support personnel, or other part-time or temporary staff as assigned.
Repairs and maintains structures and equipment at City Owned facilities; make minor repairs independently and works as a crew member on larger projects; identifies building problems and appropriate method of repair.
Performs a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, including the repair and replacement of plumbing, fixtures, painting, repair wood work and flooring, construction, welding and fabrication and concrete work.
Participates in remodeling and small construction projects; works from plans and blueprints and from verbal instructions; utilizes a variety of hand and power tools.
Inspects mechanical equipment for defects and make necessary repairs.
Performs some custodial duties as assigned.
Performs routine building and grounds inspections for preventative maintenance.
Performs routine maintenance on motors, electrical problems, carpentry, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, boilers, and other related mechanical equipment.
Operates a wide range of vehicles and motorized equipment, including but not limited to: backhoe, water truck, bobcat, and forklift.
Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
Assists other personnel of Building Maintenance as needed.
