The Class B Lineman Transmission is a semi-skilled position in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems. This position works at various locations and may be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands. The role involves working safely on energized and de-energized transmission systems, stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, and troubleshooting problems. A significant aspect of the job includes working with energized high voltage systems, requiring skill and care to ensure safety. The position also entails maintaining company vehicles, equipment, and tools, and performing other related duties to complete the job. The role requires the ability to perform rigorous physical labor, understand electrical concepts such as induced voltage and grounding procedures, and operate various equipment. Proficiency in pole climbing, heavy lifting, rigging, and reading blueprints is essential. The lineman must be capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions, including inclement weather. Effective communication, including conducting pre-job briefings, and proper inspection of safety equipment are also key responsibilities.
