About The Position

As a B-Level Automotive Technician at Simard Automotive/Point S, you will play a pivotal role as a key member of our skilled team. Your primary responsibilities will involve diagnosing and executing mechanical repairs on vehicles of all makes and models. By leveraging your expertise, you will contribute significantly to the safety and reliability of our customers' vehicles. Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician.
  • Is proficient in completing inspections and repair tasks in a timely proficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently within your notes explaining the threes C. (Concern, Cause and Correction) (Read and Understand) (VTREV)
  • Ability to operate automotive equipment and maintenance machines.
  • Able to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of ASE 4 certifications, demonstrating advanced knowledge and expertise across multiple automotive systems.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance, starting each day with a well-presented uniform.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision, showcasing a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Competent in using a PC and possesses a strong working knowledge of Protractor, Alldata, Identifix, ProDemand, and ADAS (if applicable).
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, aiding in efficient troubleshooting and repair processes.
  • Equipped with the necessary tools to perform the full spectrum of tasks expected of an Automotive Technician.
  • Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and standing for extended periods (8-10 hours) per day, ensuring the completion of physically demanding tasks.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Possess a valid driver's license (Issued from a state where employed)
  • Read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Ability to work an average of 50 hours per week, with flexibility for weeks ranging approximately from 45 to 55+ hours based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and address complex issues in various automotive systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections to pinpoint the root cause of the mechanical problems.
  • Perform efficient and accurate repairs on various automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes and electrical components.
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations and fluid checks.
  • Follow the 10 Minute Rule
  • Adhere to established safety and quality standards in all repair and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct comprehensive quality checks to ensure the reliability and longevity of completed work.
  • Ensure a low rate of callbacks by seeking quality checks from the Shop Foreman/Lead Technician.
  • Conduct road tests before and after on all repairs to verify accuracy and quality of workmanship.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of diagnostic procedures, repairs performed and parts used in Protractor.
  • Ability to explain technical information in the notes field of Protractor to ensure they are understandable to the customer and give the customer high value description
  • Communicate efficiently within your notes using VTREV.
  • Utilize tablets to perform complimentary inspections on all vehicles thoroughly documented with accompanying photos.
  • Utilize computers to provide comprehensive and accurate descriptions of diagnoses, repairs and maintenance performed on all vehicles.
  • Record any additional repairs deemed necessary and/or any conditions that may require special explanation to the customer in Protractor.
  • Track all parts used/not used and notate through protractor messaging.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, new technologies and advancements in automotive diagnostics and repair.
  • Participate in all training to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training sessions as directed by Leadership.
  • Maintain the necessary tools required for assigned jobs, expanding the toolset as necessary.
  • Attend morning huddle meetings.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Identify and report any safety issues or injuries in the shop to management
  • Collaborate with the team to uphold a clean and organized facility.
  • Before driving, inspect all vehicles for expired tags, and if found promptly inform the Service Advisor.
  • Ensure all vehicles are parked and locked in an orderly manner in designated areas.
  • Report any tools, equipment, or facilities in need of repair to the Shop Foreman/Lead Technician.
  • A daily reset of your assigned work area should be performed to include disposing of parts that are no longer needed, cores are boxed and parts that are not used both put on the returns shelf and re-organizing of your tool box for maximum efficiency.
