About The Position

GovCIO is seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Data Modernization initiative. This role focuses on orchestrating containerized applications, developing CI/CD pipelines, implementing Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions, integrating new software and hardware technologies, and enhancing cybersecurity posture. This position is fully remote, located in the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related field + 15 years of experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with Azure-native services
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure-native services (e.g., Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Policy, Key Vault, Virtual Networks) and proficiency in managing infrastructure state via Terraform Cloud or Azure backends
  • Hands-on experience integrating Terraform workflows into Azure DevOps pipelines, including automated testing, plan/apply gates, and secret management
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust

  • Kubernetes Certifications: KCNA, KCSA, CKA, CKAD, CKS,
  • Experience in healthcare, finance, government, or technology environments.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.
  • Experience supporting user onboarding workflows, service intake processes, or enterprise access provisioning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Terraform infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to provision and manage Azure cloud resources within the Summit platform environment
  • Implement and enforce DevSecOps best practices across CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, integrating security controls at every stage of the deployment lifecycle
  • Collaborate with Summit platform teams to architect scalable, repeatable Terraform modules aligned with VA cloud environment standards and governance requirements
  • Ensure Terraform configurations adhere to federal security frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST) and VA-specific compliance requirements, embedding policy-as-code guardrails to prevent misconfigurations
  • Conduct infrastructure code reviews and security assessments to identify and remediate vulnerabilities before deployment
  • Troubleshoot and correct complex problems related to on-premises systems
  • Update, configure, and manage system components
  • Optimize existing customer solutions.
