About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Architect to design and implement robust cloud solutions. This role involves architecting and deploying automated Cloud Landing Zones with integrated security, managing on-premise integration with cloud environments, and developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or OpenTofu. You will also be responsible for engineering and automation, including building custom automation frameworks in Python, implementing GitOps workflows, and designing robust state management for IaC. Additionally, you will focus on SRE and operational excellence by identifying and automating repetitive tasks, designing unified monitoring solutions, defining SLIs/SLOs, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert in Azure for the Hosted Operations Team. This position requires gathering feedback, serving as an escalation point for Azure cases, participating in inter-departmental planning, and working with internal teams to identify and alleviate pain points in Azure deployments. You will also maintain and enhance client environment configurations, organize and execute training sessions, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and participate in an on-call rotation. Building and running applications in AKS is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in Infrastructure/DevOps; 5+ years in a Lead Architect capacity.
  • Expert-level Terraform (module development, state management, Terragrunt).
  • Proficiency in Python for complex automation and Bash for systems-level tasks.
  • Deep hands-on experience with at least two: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with VMWare, Nutanix, or Bare-Metal automation (Ansible/Packer).
  • Advanced Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/OpenShift) including Service Mesh (Istio/Linkerd).
  • Mastery of Git (Branching strategies, Hooks, and CI/CD integration).
  • The "Zero-Trust" Mindset: You assume the network is hostile and build security (mTLS, Vault) into the automation from the start.
  • Vendor Agnostic: You prefer open standards and cloud-native patterns over proprietary vendor lock-in features.
  • Resilience Obsessed: You don't just build systems; you build systems that recover themselves (Self-healing infrastructure).

Responsibilities

  • Architect and deploy automated Cloud Landing Zones with integrated security guardrails, VPC/VNet topologies, and IAM synchronization across multiple regions.
  • Design "Cloud-Adjacent" architectures that allow on-premises workloads to burst into the cloud or maintain low-latency connections to local storage/databases.
  • Develop modular, version controlled Terraform or OpenTofu providers to manage resources across AWS, Azure, and private data centers.
  • Build custom automation frameworks and "Glue Code" in Python to bridge gaps between vendor APIs and internal developer portals.
  • Implement GitOps workflows (using ArgoCD or Flux) to ensure the "Source of Truth" in Git is automatically reflected in the live environment.
  • Design robust backend state management for multi-cloud IaC to prevent configuration drift and ensure environment parity.
  • Identify repetitive manual tasks in the migration lifecycle and replace them with automated self-service workflows.
  • Design a unified monitoring plane (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) that provides "Single Pane of Glass" visibility across hybrid environments.
  • Partner with engineering teams to define SLIs/SLOs and implement automated "Circuit Breakers" for failing deployments.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in Azure for the Hosted Operations Team.
  • Gather feedback from the department on areas of improvement and provide solutions utilizing Azure.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for complex Azure cases.
  • Participate in inter-departmental planning meetings on suggested solutions for existing issues as well as systemic and process improvements.
  • Work with internal team on identifying pain points in Azure deployments and configuration and ways to alleviate them.
  • Maintain and enhance current client environment configurations.
  • Organize and execute training sessions for new workflows and procedure recommendations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Building and running applications in AKS.
