About The Position

Azure administrator candidate will have a solid background in cloud computing and hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure environments. In this mid-level role, you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and security of our Azure infrastructure, ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our systems. You will play a vital role in supporting our agency's migration to the cloud and modernizing our technology portfolio in a secure and compliant manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Systems or Cloud Administrator in an enterprise environment.
  • At least 4 years of direct experience managing and supporting Microsoft Azure services
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services, including Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Virtual Networking, and App Services.
  • Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell or Azure CLI.
  • Strong understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory, including user/group administration and conditional access policies.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or higher (e.g., Azure Security Engineer, DevOps Engineer).
  • Experience working in a government environment and familiarity with federal IT security standards.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Government or Azure Government Secret clouds.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Azure Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks, and other IaaS/PaaS resources.
  • Implement and monitor security controls, governance policies, and identity/access management solutions using Azure Active Directory, Azure Security Center, and Azure Policy to ensure compliance with federal mandates (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP).
  • Proactively monitor system performance, availability, and reliability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell and/or Azure CLI scripts to automate routine tasks, deployments, and operational procedures to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
  • Configure and manage Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery to ensure data protection and business continuity.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Azure-related initiatives, providing technical support and guidance to development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on cloud strategy and roadmap development.
  • Monitor and optimize Azure resource utilization to effectively manage costs and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Applies scripting methodologies to automate related tasks.
