About The Position

An Axle Technician is responsible for assembly, installation and maintenance of the structural foundation and running gear of the frames. This role ensures the frame can safely support its load, maintain balance, and travel securely. Requirements

  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and pneumatic impact wrenches
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Ability to be on your feet (standing and/or walking) for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to perform a job that includes but is not limited to repetitive stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling and/or reaching overhead.
  • Ability to safely handle and use various power tools and guns that range in weight of 1 – 5 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting all general physical demands of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction and/or production preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Positioning axles beneath the frame, aligning them to ensure the frame tracks straight, and securing them to the chassis to prevent sway.
  • Installing wheel hubs, bearings, spindles, and brake systems to the axle beam.
  • Inspecting for worn bearings, damaged suspension parts, broken springs, or bent axles.
  • Identifying axle capacity, measuring hub-face to hub-face distances, and determining spring center measurements for proper replacement parts.
  • Installing and testing braking systems, including backing plates, magnets, and wiring associated with the brake assembly.
