About The Position

CGI is seeking an experienced AWS Python Developer with ETL to develop, enhance, and support data pipelines and data processing solutions within a large-scale financial services environment. This role is well suited for a hands-on data engineer with strong Python and SQL skills and experience working with AWS data services. The Data Engineer will build and maintain ETL/ELT processes, perform source to target data mapping and data quality validation, optimize SQL workloads, and support reporting and analytics needs. The role also includes production troubleshooting, testing, technical documentation, and close collaboration with business stakeholders, data analysts, and development teams. We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!. This role is located at a client site in either Reston, VA or Washington, DC. A hybrid working model is acceptable.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data development, or a closely related role.
  • Strong hands-on Python development experience for data processing, automation, and ETL/ELT workloads.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, database objects, and query performance optimization.
  • Experience developing and supporting ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Hands on experience with AWS data services, ideally including AWS Lambda, Amazon Redshift, Apache Iceberg, and Amazon Glacier.
  • Experience with source to target data mapping, data transformation, and data quality validation.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling/database concepts.
  • Experience creating and executing test cases for data pipelines, data validation, and reporting solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI), reporting, and analytics concepts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production data issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and using JIRA to manage work items and defects.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including mapping documents, data dictionaries, technical specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with business and technical teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
