AWS Java Full Stack Developer
About The Position
CGI is seeking a hands-on AWS Java Full Stack Developer to support the development and enhancement of a business-critical, external-facing training platform used within the financial services and capital markets space. This role will work closely with a collaborative team of experienced engineers to deliver scalable, high-quality applications across both frontend and backend environments. We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!. This role is located at a client site in Reston, VA. A hybrid working model is acceptable. CGI is seeking a hands-on AWS Java Full Stack Developer to support the development and enhancement of a business-critical, external-facing training platform used within the financial services and capital markets space. This role will work closely with a collaborative team of experienced engineers to deliver scalable, high-quality applications across both frontend and backend environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building modern web applications using Java, Angular, and AWS cloud technologies. Responsibilities include developing new features, maintaining existing functionality, supporting cloud-native applications, implementing automated testing, and assisting with production support activities. The role requires someone comfortable working in an Agile, team-oriented environment while contributing to application stability, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers exposure to enterprise-scale AWS environments, modern development practices, and a strong opportunity for long-term growth and full-time conversion.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Java, Angular, and AWS technologies in enterprise environments preferred
- Strong full stack development experience using Java and Angular
- Hands-on experience designing and supporting applications within AWS cloud environments
- Ability to build and maintain scalable, external-facing web applications
- Experience developing RESTful backend services and integrating frontend components
- Solid understanding of automated testing practices across UI and backend layers
- Comfortable working with GitHub workflows, including pull requests, branching strategies, and code reviews
- Experience troubleshooting production issues across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with cloud-native application development and deployment best practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively within Agile engineering teams
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical applications in regulated or financial environments is highly preferred
- Exposure to GitHub Copilot or AI-assisted development tooling is a plus
