About The Position

CGI is seeking an AWS Application Production Support Engineer to provide Level 2 and Level 2.5 support for business critical applications running in AWS production and non production environments within the financial services industry. The engineer will monitor application health, investigate alerts and production incidents, troubleshoot AWS and Linux environments, analyze logs using Splunk and CloudWatch, and support application releases and CI/CD pipeline issues. The role will work closely with Level 3 and engineering teams to implement approved changes, resolve recurring problems, and improve application stability and operational reliability. This is a hands on production support position that requires independent troubleshooting, good escalation judgment, and the ability to use Python or similar scripting to automate repetitive support activities. This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Columbia, SC, Birmingham, AL

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands on AWS application production support experience, ideally providing Level 2 or comparable support.
  • Experience troubleshooting AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, and CloudWatch.
  • Hands on experience with Splunk and Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring, log analysis, alerts, metrics, and incident investigation.
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting skills.
  • Python scripting or comparable automation experience.
  • Working knowledge of GitLab or similar CI/CD pipelines, including troubleshooting deployment or pipeline failures.
  • Experience with incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Ability to investigate application failures, AWS service issues, log/metric anomalies, and recurring production incidents.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause investigation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to engage Level 3 or engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, ownership, accountability, and escalation judgment.
  • Experience working in a large scale production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 2.5 support for AWS hosted production and non production applications.
  • Monitor application health using Splunk, Amazon CloudWatch, and related observability tools.
  • Investigate alerts, application failures, log anomalies, failed jobs or transactions, and infrastructure related incidents.
  • Troubleshoot AWS services including EC2, ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, and CloudWatch.
  • Perform Linux based application and system troubleshooting.
  • Support application releases and troubleshoot failures within GitLab or comparable CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work with Level 3 and engineering teams to implement approved application and infrastructure changes.
  • Use Python or similar scripting to automate repetitive operational and support activities.
  • Identify recurring incidents and recommend automation, process, or resiliency improvements.
  • Follow established incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Maintain knowledge articles and operational documentation.
  • Drive issues through appropriate resolution or escalation and communicate clearly with technical and business stakeholders.
