About The Position

The AVP, US FSSC and Legal Entity Reporting is a seasoned leadership role with end-to-end accountability for accounting, reporting, and financial governance across the U.S. Financial Shared Services Center. The role supports Life, Annuities, and Surplus operations, along with legal entity reporting for U.S. insurance and non-insurance entities, separate accounts, and benefit plans. This position is critical to delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality external and management reporting under IFRS, NAIC, and U.S. GAAP, ensuring strong financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness within a complex, multi-basis environment. You will play a key role in enabling business growth, expense discipline, and in-force optimization through disciplined execution and robust financial controls. As a people leader, you are also responsible for building, developing, and inspiring high-performing teams, with a strong focus on talent growth, succession planning, and capability development across accounting and reporting disciplines. Requirements

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting, reporting, and controllership roles, preferably within insurance or financial services and a multi entity, regulated environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in IFRS, statutory reporting (NAIC) and U.S. GAAP, with demonstrated experience navigating complex accounting issues, judgments, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing high performing teams, including the ability to coach technical depth, build leadership capabilities, and drive strong engagement and succession readiness.
  • Deep understanding of financial close, reporting processes, internal controls, and audit management, with a track record of ensuring data integrity, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives, including the use of automation, reporting tools, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI-enabled solutions) to enhance efficiency, quality, and insight.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions, partner effectively with senior stakeholders, and clearly convey complex financial information to both technical and non technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end‑to‑end leadership and accountability for U.S. accounting operations, financial close, and legal entity reporting across insurance and non‑insurance entities, ensuring accurate, timely, and high‑quality deliverables under IFRS, NAIC, and U.S. GAAP.
  • Serve as the senior financial reporting subject matter expert for the U.S. segment, overseeing external reporting, regulatory filings, audits, and board‑level financial statements while ensuring strong governance, controls, and audit readiness.
  • Lead and develop high‑performing accounting and reporting teams by setting clear expectations, coaching technical and leadership capabilities, and building a strong talent pipeline through succession planning and stretch development opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Actuarial, FP&A, Tax, Risk, Compliance, and business stakeholders to resolve complex accounting and reporting matters, support growth initiatives, and provide trusted financial insight and advice.
  • Oversee accounting policies, data integrity, and reporting systems, ensuring readiness of underlying tools and processes while identifying and executing opportunities for automation, AI enablement, and efficiency improvements.
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of the external audit process, serving as the primary liaison with auditors to ensure timely, accurate delivery of financial statements, clear resolution of issues, and compliance with regulatory and accounting standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial close, reporting, and control processes, acting as a change leader who challenges the status quo to deliver scalable, consistent, and sustainable outcomes.
  • Play an active leadership role within the broader Finance organization, contributing to enterprise transformation initiatives, regulatory engagements, and cross‑functional projects that support strategic and financial objectives.
