About The Position

Axos Bank seeks Assistant Vice President, Tax Manager in San Diego, CA, to assist accounting senior management in maintaining and updating a documented system of accounting policies, procedures and process documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Master's degree in one of the above listed fields and three (3) years of experience in the above listed skills.
  • Three (3) years of experience utilizing OneSource, CorpTax, GoSystems, Drake, Lacerte, or SurePrep to prepare and review consolidated U.S. and foreign tax provisions, including international components including GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Subpart F, and foreign tax credit calculations and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and reconciliation of tax accounts.
  • Three (3) years of experience preparing executive-level tax summaries and presentations for senior accounting and finance leadership, delivering insights on tax positions, legislative changes, and financial impacts.
  • Three (3) years of experience preparing detailed supporting workpapers for federal and state income tax returns, and reviewing returns prepared by external vendors or junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Three (3) years of experience utilizing tax research tools including CCH, RIA Checkpoint, Bloomberg and any other tax software to conduct in-depth research on federal, state, and international tax issues, supporting technical positions, compliance, and strategic planning.
  • Three (3) years of experience reviewing and drafting income tax technical memoranda (white papers) to support tax positions under ASC 740 and other relevant accounting guidance.
  • Three (3) years of experience analyzing and documenting the tax impacts of material transactions and significant tax law changes.
  • Three (3) years of experience facilitating discussions with auditors, external advisors, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure transparency, compliance, and audit readiness.

Responsibilities
