About The Position

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Program Training & Quality for Residential/Day Services provides strategic, integrated leadership for the Program Training and Program Quality departments, aligning both functions under a unified vision to ensure regulatory compliance, service excellence, and continuous organizational improvement. This role is responsible for next-level thinking and proactive problem solving, translating regulatory and operational insights into scalable systems, training strategies, and quality improvement initiatives. The AVP partners closely with executive and program leadership to drive consistency, accountability, and a shared commitment to high-quality outcomes for the people we support, their families, and the communities served.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Human Services, Healthcare Administration, Technology, Quality, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in training, quality or program operations with nonprofit or human services setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of OPWDD regulations and compliance frameworks.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s license.
  • This position will need to travel locally and/or regionally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and integration of Program Training and Program Quality functions, ensuring alignment toward a common goal of compliance, competence, and service excellence.
  • Develop and implement systems that connect training outcomes to quality indicators, operational performance, and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead next-level problem solving by identifying patterns, risks, and opportunities across programs and translating them into sustainable improvements.
  • Ensure all residential and day services meet OPWDD, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements through coordinated training and quality monitoring.
  • Establish agency-wide standards for Program training curricula, quality assurance processes, and follow-up protocols.
  • Oversee development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of training programs to ensure skill transfer and competency in the field.
  • Use data, trend analysis, and operational insights (non-statistical) to inform leadership decisions and quality improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, Compliance, Nursing, Clinical, Safety, Maintenance, and Program Leadership to ensure coordinated and timely resolution of issues.
  • Supervise and support Directors and Senior Leaders within Program Training and Program Quality, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Ensure effective preparation and follow-up related to surveys, audits, incident management, documentation, and fiscal oversight.
  • Promote a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and shared responsibility across all levels of the organization.
  • Serve as a liaison with external partners, community organizations, and governing bodies related to training and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in agency leadership activities, committees, and strategic planning efforts.
