The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Medical Group Operations for the Musculoskeletal Service Line is responsible for overseeing and managing the operational and administrative activities of the cardiology department within the medical group. This position will ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality care, improve operational efficiencies, manage budgets, and lead a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care services across the organization.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within an orthopedic or clinical service line setting.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and multi-disciplinary departments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, quality metrics, and accreditation standards.
  • Proficiency in healthcare management software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure.
  • Occasional travel between healthcare facilities may be required.
  • This position involves both office and clinical settings, interacting with healthcare professionals and patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Healthcare Management (e.g., Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE)) is perferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: The individual must be able to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization and be able to build consensus across multiple constituencies. Will work with Medical Group Operations to lead and direct the day-to-day operations of the Musculoskeletal Service Line to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. Oversee scheduling, patient flow, staffing, and resource allocation to maintain operational efficiency. Will work with the service line to operationalize MSA agreements with several hospital.
  • Strategic Planning and Development: Collaborate with service line and senior leadership to develop and implement long-term strategies for the growth and success of the Musculoskeletal Service Line. This includes identifying areas for improvement, expanding service offerings, and developing new programs.
  • Financial Management: Develop and monitor the operating budget for the musculoskeletal service line, ensuring financial goals are met. Analyze financial performance, implement cost-control measures, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Staff Leadership and Development: Lead a team of managers, supervisors, and staff across various clinical and administrative functions. Provide guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations to ensure a high level of professional development and job satisfaction.
  • Quality Improvement: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality metrics. Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Serve as a liaison between clinical and administrative teams, facilitating open communication, addressing concerns, and promoting a positive working environment. Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operational processes.
  • Patient Experience: Monitor and improve the patient experience within the musculoskeletal service line. Ensure that patient care is delivered in a compassionate, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Technology Integration: Oversee the implementation of electronic health records (EHR) systems, patient management software, and other technologies to improve operational efficiency, patient care, and data tracking.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities within the Musculoskeletal Service Line are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices.
