As the AVP of Mobile Device Portfolio , you will lead the strategy, lifecycle management, and innovation for Verizon's Mobile Device Portfolio across Postpaid, Value, and Business segments. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, vendor management, and financial acumen to deliver a competitive lineup of smartphones, tablets, connected laptops, mobile hotspots, gaming consoles, wearables, and emerging form factors. You will direct a large team of product managers, engineers, and testers to drive maximum benefit for customers and the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in wireless device marketing, technology, or related fields, with direct experience in consumer device product/portfolio management.
  • Deep understanding of wireless device technology, consumer/market segmentation, and evaluating business and financial metrics.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage complex, multi-year software and content licensing agreements.
  • Strong track record of leading highly functional teams and driving change in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.
  • Excellent executive presentation, problem-solving, and international collaboration skills (working with customers, standards bodies, open-source projects).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Technology.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience leading technical, software development, or hardware engineering teams.
  • Go-to-Market (GTM) experience with consumer devices and deploying large, complex systems in telecom environments.
  • Experience managing large budgets and leading varied, cross-functional disciplines (Network, Product Development, Marketing) without direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Deep knowledge of current hardware/software trends and open-source projects, with the ability to author comprehensive Product or Marketing requirement documents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a 3-year product roadmap driven by technology trends and customer feedback.
  • Define core device requirements across Retail and B2B, publish guidance for the annual OEM RFP cycle, and lock down the device portfolio.
  • Oversee all phases of device realization, including UX, compliance and certification, network guidance, acceptance testing, launch support, software updates, security (FOTA), and End-of-Life (EOL) operations.
  • Select and manage vendors.
  • Lead complex negotiations with OEMs and app providers regarding preload strategies, app-tray visibility, privacy/age compliance, and revenue-sharing models (including cost-per-install and minimum guarantees).
  • Oversee SIM & eSIM Management for all of Verizon, including MVA as a channel (eSIM prospecting).
  • Manage BYOD and unlocked device certification, financial reporting, ecosystem cost drivers, and mitigation plans.
  • Cultivate a positive, growth-oriented team culture.
  • Regularly present portfolio updates, competitive analyses, and strategic plans to cross-functional teams and senior executive management.
