About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Profitability & Risk, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the pricing of our Individual Life Term & Health product portfolio. Sun Life provides a diverse and leading suite of insurance solutions across multiple distribution systems. This key role leads a team of pricing and actuarial experts working with financial, product and distribution leaders across the organization.

Requirements

  • FSA or FCIA designation with 10+ years of actuarial experience
  • Strong people/team management skills with passion for engagement and development
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation skills) with the ability to explain complex ideas to executives and non-actuaries
  • Strong relationship management and partnering skills with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to produce business outcomes on multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position includes managing both French and English-speaking staff (Quebec and outside Quebec) and providing daily support to the team.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of insurance, pricing, product development, IFRS 17, Valuation or ALM is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Health & Term product pricing teams, providing direction and highlighting priorities for the team to align with the broader business objectives and strategic goals.
  • Support the design or enhancement of innovative and competitive solutions by analyzing the financial and pricing impact of product features and benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with the Product Design and Pricing Operating Guideline & VNB Operating Guideline.
  • Review profitability of products, and influence the use of various financial levers to optimize profitability and assist management in making decisions.
  • Partner with key business partners to ensure product suite has appropriate positioning and support for advisors and clients.
  • Actively develop and maintain robust risk management processes as first line of defense actuarial leader.
