About The Position

Overall responsibility: The AVP, Business Intelligence will lead the development and evolution of the enterprise BI platform. This role is responsible for driving data-informed decision-making across the organization by delivering scalable, high-impact analytics solutions built on Power BI and a modern cloud data stack. The AVP BI is a hands-on leader who can architect solutions, review and contribute to code, and roll up their sleeves alongside the team to ship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the specific or related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of management experience role OR High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in the field and a minimum of three (3) years of management experience.
  • Significant hands-on Power BI experience — semantic model design, DAX, workspace governance, Premium/Fabric capacity management, and deployment pipelines (our current enterprise platform).
  • Proven track record leading an enterprise BI function — from platform strategy through execution and stakeholder adoption.
  • Prior hands-on development experience — background as a BI developer or data engineer with the ability to contribute to and review code, not just oversee it.
  • Comfort operating as a player-coach: setting technical direction while remaining active in development, troubleshooting, and delivery.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills — dimensional modeling, star schemas, and BI-ready data structures.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and translate complex data concepts into business value.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in IT, Business Management, Computer Science.
  • Preferred experience with dbt and Snowflake — modern ELT patterns and semantic layer design.
  • Working knowledge of agentic AI frameworks and their application to proactive, conversational, and self-service analytics.
  • Strategic perspective on BI and reporting — able to define and evolve a reporting vision while remaining adaptable as AI reshapes the landscape, with a clear focus on building world-class analytics solutions that directly serve client needs.
  • Building data literacy programs for clients

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise Power BI environment, including workspace governance, capacity management, and deployment pipelines.
  • Establish and enforce BI governance standards: row-level security, dataset certification, naming conventions, and access controls.
  • Define and manage Premium/Fabric capacity allocations and monitor platform health and usage.
  • Drive adoption of Power BI best practices across development teams and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to build agent-driven and app-based analytics solutions that go beyond traditional reporting.
  • Stay current on Microsoft Fabric, Copilot for Power BI — evaluate and adopt capabilities that improve delivery speed and output quality.
  • Continuously refine and contribute to agents and skills within the organization's codebase — improving reusability, quality, and the team's collective AI capability over time.
  • Take ownership in the enterprise semantic layer across Snowflake and Power BI — with Snowflake serving as the authoritative source of business data and Power BI datasets delivering that truth to decision-makers.
  • Partner with data engineering on Snowflake data models and dbt transformations to ensure BI-ready data structures.
  • Define standards for DAX, calculated measures, and dimensional modeling across the BI layer.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of BI developers and analysts — setting technical standards and actively participating in code and model reviews.
  • Contribute directly to development when needed: building semantic models, writing DAX, and delivering solutions alongside the team.
  • Own and manage the BI backlog — prioritizing work across multiple teams, driving estimation, and ensuring capacity is aligned to business priorities.
  • Partner with the product team to identify analytics needs and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
  • Champion an agentic mindset across the team — actively participating in the community of practice, coaching team members on AI-driven approaches, and supporting the development of shared skills and agents.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for Power BI report and dataset deployments using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Apply version control and automated testing practices to BI development workflows.
  • Define and enforce development standards, code review processes, and release management for the BI team.
  • Lead sprint planning, work estimation, and delivery forecasting across BI development efforts — maintaining visibility into velocity and cross-team dependencies.
