About The Position

Unum is seeking an experienced product leader to identify, build, and scale Agentic and Generative AI products across the enterprise. The role focuses on finding high-value business problems, validating solutions quickly, and turning successful approaches into trusted, repeatable products used in real business workflows. The position will help transform Unum into an AI-first digital insurance company and contribute to its advanced analytics roadmap and AI platform.

The AVP will lead strategic AI products and cross-functional teams, influence executive strategy and investment decisions, partner with business and technical leaders to operationalize AI, and support enterprise-wide AI adoption. The role requires firsthand experience moving agentic AI products from prototype through MVP and production to enterprise scale, with attention to measurable value, user adoption, reliability, trust, governance, security, cost, and ongoing operations. The leader will also develop team members and identify reusable AI product patterns and capabilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product management experience, with significant experience building and scaling technology products in technology companies or sophisticated digital organizations.
• Demonstrated experience personally leading Agentic AI products from development through successful production deployment at organizational or business-unit scale.
• Proven ability to move Agentic AI beyond prototypes or pilots into production with meaningful user adoption and measurable business outcomes.
• Excellent knowledge of AI technologies and technical fluency to work effectively with Data Scientists, AI/ML Engineers, Software Engineers, and Architects.
• Practical understanding of operating Agentic AI products at scale, including evaluation, observability, reliability, guardrails, human oversight, orchestration, security, cost, and ongoing product operations.
• Experience with modern AI/ML and Generative AI technologies and platforms.
• Strategic innovation experience and ability to reimagine what is possible.
• Execution experience taking ideas to scale, with sound judgment about when Agentic AI is and is not an appropriate solution.
• Ability to bridge theoretical and applied work and communicate product vision to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated depth of IT knowledge and diverse technical experience; credibility as a technology partner.
• Experience leading and developing Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, or similar product-focused teams.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to influence senior business leaders, customers, technical teams, and governance partners.
• Background in Product Management, CS-Math, Data Science, Operational Research, or a related discipline.
• Ability to take smart risks and encourage innovative, proactive, and resourceful approaches.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive strategic AI-based products and solutions, particularly Agentic and Generative AI.
• Provide input to and support execution of the advanced analytics roadmap.
• Generate, conceptualize, and build AI-first digital products, solutions, and capabilities.
• Support establishment of an AI platform with standard tools, processes, and ways of working.
• Partner with business leaders and technical teams to identify and prioritize high-value AI use cases and operationalize AI in business processes and digital assets.
• Use Design Thinking, Lean Startup, experimentation, and MVP principles to test opportunities and validate value.
• Influence senior executives and business leaders on AI strategies and investments.
• Partner with Data Science, AI Engineering, Software Engineering, and Architecture professionals to support development and delivery of AI, analytics, and machine learning products and applications.
• Address product considerations including evaluation, reliability, observability, human oversight, governance, security, cost, and operational support when scaling AI products.
• Develop, coach, and engage people to improve performance.
• Lead cross-functional, cross-disciplinary teams to deliver AI-centric programs.
• Identify repeatable AI product patterns and reusable capabilities that can scale across the enterprise.
• Advocate for adherence to architecture standards, practices, and processes.
• Define product success through measurable business outcomes, customer experience, adoption, reliability, trust, and economics.
• Evangelize and democratize AI across the enterprise.
