About The Position

We’re looking for an AVP & Actuary to join our Benefits & Protection Financial Reporting team. In this role, you’ll lead and oversee key financial processes to obtain strategic growth and expected profitability for the Business Owner Segment. Support principles of balanced scorecard philosophy by (1) meeting financial goals (financial perspective); (2) ensuring highest quality customer service is provided (customer perspective); (3) focusing on internal process improvements (internal perspective); and (4) maximizing utilization of human capital (learning and growth perspective). Support Execution of B&P Business Owner Segment Strategic Imperatives Part of Business Owner Segment Leadership team driving strategic imperatives Act as trusted and strategic advisor to Business Owner segment Drive financial outcomes and KPI measures of success Influence and advocate for investments that drive value and future growth Oversee Core CFO Financial Responsibilities for Life Insurance Financial Projections & Analysis Reserve Valuation Financial Reporting Internal and External communication of results and drivers Drive continuous process efficiencies and analytic improvement Enterprise partnership and mindset Support Execution of Enterprise Priorities Enterprise mindset and finance leader Part of Enterprise FP&A Working Group Drive execution of Finance Journey work Support establishment of PLIC NY legal entity Promote and implement use of AI capabilities in Finance Enable high performing teams Develop leaders on Life CFO team Build bench strength Assess team structure and optimize team Operating at the intersection of financial services and technology, Principal builds financial tools that help our customers live better lives. Requirements

  • College graduate or equivalent
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
  • Member in good standing of the American Academy of Actuaries (AAA) required
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, presentation, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply generalist skills such as strategic and long-range visionary thinking
  • Strong background and knowledge in financial and budgetary matters
  • Knowledge of life insurance products and reserve valuation is a plus

Nice To Haves

  • 15 years of experience in the actuarial field is preferred
  • Actuarial insurance experience is preferred
  • Prefer designation such as a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
