AVO Technician

AllianceMidland, TX
Onsite

About The Position

Audio, Visual, and Olfactory (AVO) inspections are key components of leak detection and emissions compliance programs in industrial facilities, particularly in oil and gas operations. These inspections rely on trained personnel to detect abnormal sounds, visible emissions, or unusual odors from equipment such as storage tanks, compressors, valves, and piping. AVO inspections are often performed monthly to minimize fugitive emissions and ensure compliance with environmental regulations like the EPA’s Quad O rules (OOOOa, OOOOb, OOOOc) and CFR Part 60, Subpart OOOO. During an AVO inspection, technicians listen for unusual hissing, whistling, or other sounds indicating leaks, observe for visible emissions such as smoke, vapor, or flaring, and smell for odors that may indicate the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other hazardous emissions. These inspections are often documented using standardized checklists, geolocation tracking, and real-time reporting platforms to ensure consistency and regulatory compliance. AVO inspections are critical for preventing environmental violations, supporting LDAR programs, and maintaining operational safety by reducing the risk of accidents and costly downtime.
