About The Position

Audio, Visual, and Olfactory (AVO) inspections are key components of leak detection and emissions compliance programs in industrial facilities, particularly in oil and gas operations. These inspections rely on trained personnel to detect abnormal sounds, visible emissions, or unusual odors from equipment such as storage tanks, compressors, valves, and piping. AVO inspections are often performed monthly to minimize fugitive emissions and ensure compliance with environmental regulations like the EPA’s Quad O rules (OOOOa, OOOOb, OOOOc) and CFR Part 60, Subpart OOOO.

Requirements

Trained personnel to detect abnormal sounds, visible emissions, or unusual odors.
Familiarity with environmental regulations like EPA’s Quad O rules (OOOOa, OOOOb, OOOOc) and CFR Part 60, Subpart OOOO.
Ability to document inspections using standardized checklists, geolocation tracking, and real-time reporting platforms.
Direct industry experience and specific skill sets may influence pay.
Must be hired before July 1st to receive a bonus floating holiday.

Nice To Haves

Experience with quantitative methods like Method 21 or optical gas imaging (OGI).

Responsibilities

Listen for unusual hissing, whistling, or other sounds indicating leaks.
Observe for visible emissions, such as smoke, vapor, or flaring.
Smell for odors that may indicate the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other hazardous emissions.
Document inspections using standardized checklists, geolocation tracking, and real-time reporting platforms.
Support LDAR programs as the first line of defense.
Perform monthly AVO inspections to minimize fugitive emissions and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
