About The Position

Leidos Defense is seeking a skilled Test Engineer to join their Hypersonics team supporting the Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB) program. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of software development capabilities and electrical engineering knowledge to assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated test systems for flight-critical avionics. This role requires a blend of hardware and software expertise, familiarity with CI/CD practices, and the ability to validate complex electronic systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 4+ years of prior relevant experience in test engineering for electronic systems or Master's degree in related field with 2+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW
  • Familiarity with test automation and CI/CD practices
  • Understanding of electronics design, including reading schematics
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and embedded systems
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, RS232, Ethernet)
  • Ability to use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and Agile development methods
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • US Citizenship is required and ability to obtain and maintain and DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated test procedures for avionics hardware components and systems
  • Develop test software using modern languages (Python, C/C++, LabVIEW) within a CI/CD framework
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop test systems that simulate real-world conditions for avionics components
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to optimize product performance
  • Document test requirements, procedures, and results using digital engineering tools
  • Apply "test-like-you-fly" methodologies to ensure products meet mission requirements
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and provide technical recommendations
  • Participate in review boards and technical interchange meetings with customers and suppliers
