The Avionics Technician II is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment and systems for aerospace vehicles. This role involves equipment setup and maintenance, using precision measurement tools, fabricating fixtures, and applying precision cleaning and chemistry processes. Adherence to best shop practices like 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness is crucial. This position ensures the reliability and performance of avionics systems, contributing to the success of aerospace missions. Requirements

  • Typically 2+ years of related experience
  • Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements
  • Ability to perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities and display general mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency
  • Able to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry
  • Ability to learn and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes
  • Ability to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness
  • Ability to demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or a related technical field
  • Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification
  • Experience with avionics systems and equipment, including but not limited to navigation, communication, and flight control systems
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with avionics testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
  • Knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting of avionics systems
  • Understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) principles and their application in avionics systems
  • Experience with soldering and crimping techniques for avionics wiring and connectors
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
