About The Position

We build the SJ30 — the fastest, longest-range light business jet in production. Our engineering team owns every aircraft system from first sketch through FAA certification and delivery. Small team, advanced program, real hardware on real aircraft. We are hiring engineers who want to design it, certify it, and see it fly. SyberJet Aircraft is seeking an Avionics Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design and environmental qualification of our Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). You will design the enclosures, define the environmental categories, author the RTCA DO-160 test procedures, and drive each unit through qualification and certification. This is an individual contributor role. You will spend your time in CAD, at test labs, and with our electrical, systems, stress, and manufacturing engineers, solving real problems on real hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years designing mechanical enclosures or packaging for airborne electronics
  • Hands-on RTCA DO-160 qualification experience — you have written the plans, been in the lab, and signed the reports
  • Proficiency in CATIA or Siemens NX
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23 certification and DER coordination

  • Teamcenter PLM
  • MBSE tools (Siemens Polarion, ANSYS SCADE, ANSYS Medini)
  • EMI/EMC, thermal, or structural analysis background
  • Lightweight materials and advanced manufacturing methods
  • Prior experience on a certified Part 23 or Part 25 program

Responsibilities

  • Design LRU housings, mounts, connectors, and thermal solutions in CATIA or Siemens NX
  • Define environmental categories per RTCA DO-160 based on installation zone and operating profile
  • Author qualification test plans and reports; execute qualification campaigns with suppliers and accredited test labs
  • Work directly with DERs and FAA representatives to close compliance findings
  • Release SCDs, ICDs, and compliance artifacts through Teamcenter
  • Investigate qualification failures, drive root cause, and implement corrective design actions
  • Contribute to SRR, PDR, CDR, and Qualification Reviews
  • Mentor junior engineers on packaging and qualification best practices
