About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be a crucial member of our Core Avionics organization in the Lunar Permanence Business Unit. Directly contribute to the successful development of avionics components for our Lunar Vehicles. Work with a team of engineers to define, test, and certify avionics hardware. Responsibilities for this role are varied and dynamic, spanning the entire product life cycle from conception to sustainment, with partners across multiple technical functions. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration to enable affordable, safe, and repeatable spaceflight. You will be working on development, manufacturing, and testing of Lunar Command and Data Handling (C&DH) and Power Management and Distribution (PMAD) components. Your engineering responsibilities include developing product requirements, defining interfaces, supporting hardware build, integration, and test, developing and implementing verification and qualification strategies, conducting root cause analysis, and developing mitigation plans for hardware failures. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or other related field
  • Avionics hardware build and test experience
  • Complex hardware design experience in product design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Knowledge of / experience in requirements development and requirements-based verification
  • Familiarity with integrated systems verification, including developing hardware verification test plans and verification test reports for certification / qualification

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • Successful candidates typically have 6+ years of proven track record in design, development, or test of space industry avionics components and systems
  • Experience developing digital, analog, and / or mixed-signal circuit board designs for avionics systems (including design, prototyping, schematics, layout, test and verification)
  • Experience in circuit analysis and simulation, such as worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and logic or P-Spice simulation
  • Experience in grounding and general board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs
  • Experience with Jama or similar requirements management tools
  • Experience with MIL-STD/DO-160/SMC-S-016 environmental qualification testing of avionics hardware
  • Familiarity with ARP 4754 and/or DO-254/DO-178 or similar standards
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycle phases
  • Familiarity with hardware development, integration, or verification

Responsibilities

  • Supporting C&DH and PMAD Responsible Engineers in avionics box lifecycle development in areas such as: Hardware build, integration, and test of Engineering Development Unit (EDU) and flight hardware
  • Verification and qualification activities
  • Requirements development and interface definition
  • Root cause analyses for hardware failures and mitigation plan development
