About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. As part of a hardworking team of engineers and program managers, you will ensure that Avionics & Communication Systems products get delivered on time to meet our commitments for a vehicle within the Lunar Permanence organization. With your help we will quantitatively manage our scope by presenting status, risks & opportunities, variances, and recovery plans to engineering and program management. You will be hands on with the team leading the execution of an agile process for week-to-week planning and tracking. You may serve in a scrum master role bringing agile development methods to drive efficiency in the team’s execution. You will be responsible for the programmatic key performance metrics (cost, schedule, risk) and maintaining alignment between the program level plan and our team’s day to day execution. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Permanence system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project management experience related to software development.
  • Experience with Project Management Tools such as MS Project, P6 Primavera or similar.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NPR 7150.2D, DO-254, and safety critical applications.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
  • Familiar with agile project management.
  • Experience with Jira.
  • Experience automating schedule health evaluations and continuously improving schedules.
  • Experience with verification, integration, and test, of orbital launch vehicles or human rated spacecraft.

Responsibilities

  • Develop robust plans of product deliveries and lead tracking of key operating metrics - including technical, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Identify and define problem statements and have enough experience to build a realistic project schedule.
  • May have a budget assigned and has authority to purchase based on an approved budget.
  • Work with technical leads to define program scope to create program plans.
  • Work with program management toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and resolve technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.
  • Provides regular status updates and works to resolve project discrepancies (schedule, budget, resources, etc.).
  • Engage with developers on significant issues sufficiently to be able to report to senior leadership.
  • In partnership with Responsible Engineers (RE) and Team Leads own the technical success of product development.
  • Help run contracts and produce statements of work.
