Avionics Engineer - TS II
About The Position
The Avionics Engineer guides the successful completion of major engineering programs or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services. The role applies substantial technical expertise to resolve complex engineering issues, with decisions and recommendations recognized as authoritative. Work is performed with considerable independence and reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results. Problem solving balances technical product, cost, and schedule considerations. The position requires experience and understanding of aircraft datalink functions, including CPDLC, ATN, FANS, and ADS-B; experience with SAE ARP 4754A, RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-178, and RTCA DO-254; and experience with FAA Part 25 and/or EASA CS-25 certification. Preferred qualifications include experience with Symmetry Flight Deck or other avionics-based systems, and broad knowledge of aircraft systems and their functional and physical integration. A bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical-related curriculum applicable to the position is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions. The role requires 10 years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience across several technical disciplines with a bachelor's degree. Related advanced degrees may receive experience credit, limited to two years for a master's degree and four years for a Ph.D. An advanced degree is preferred. The position also requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Travel is up to 25%; the shift is first shift.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or an applicable technical-related curriculum, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions.
- 10 years of experience in a specific technical discipline, or 15 years of broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with a bachelor's degree.
- Experience and understanding of aircraft datalink functions, including CPDLC, ATN, FANS, and ADS-B.
- Experience with SAE ARP 4754A, RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-178, and RTCA DO-254.
- Experience with FAA 14 CFR Part 25 and/or EASA CS-25 certification.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

- Work without appreciable direction and exercise latitude in determining technical objectives and making authoritative decisions and recommendations.
- Maintain current knowledge of developments in the specialty and related aircraft fields to recommend innovations that improve product quality and effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
