About The Position

Amentum is seeking a qualified Avionics/Electronic Bench Technician II to support operations at Naval Air Station in New Orleans, LA. This role involves diagnosing malfunctions and repairing Avionic Test Equipment. The technician will observe and train under higher-grade workers on less complex repair and maintenance problems. Responsibilities include solving repair issues by studying technical documentation, using automated maintenance data systems, and performing component-level repairs on Avionic Test Equipment using various diagnostic tools and hand tools. The job also includes disassembling and assembling accessories and components, performing maintenance, inspecting and testing equipment, and diagnosing mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for stenciling and marking equipment, handling hazardous materials according to regulations, and practicing good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety. The role involves performing routine and non-complex assignments, evaluating test results, and preparing reports. A Secret Clearance is required, and US citizenship is necessary to obtain it.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years' aviation experience in electronics maintenance/repair, or a military equivalent of three (3) years of hands-on experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Graduate from a two (2) year Electronics Technician resident course at an accredited institute.
  • Able to read and understand aviation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, to include component identification and function.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance for issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Secret Clearance required, must be able to obtain and maintain a secret US government clearance.
  • US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Avionic Test Equipment.
  • Observes and trains under higher grade workers on diagnosis and repair on less complex repair/maintenance problems.
  • Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications.
  • Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs Avionic Test Equipment to component level using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
  • Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning test equipment accessories and components.
  • Removes, repairs, cleans, and treats for corrosion, to include sandblast and paint.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Avionic Test Equipment.
  • Inspects, tests, and operates Test Equipment to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
  • Stencils and marks Avionic Test Equipment in accordance with technical publications.
  • Stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Performs routing and non-complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
  • Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates test results and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
