MK1-Avionic Test Engineer II – Lunar Permanence

BLUE ORIGIN•Seattle, WA
•$107,136 - $149,990

About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin’s Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. The team is building sustainable infrastructure to transport crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. The Avionic Test Engineer II will design, develop, build, and integrate electrical and avionics hardware, software, and interconnect solutions supporting avionics systems. The role supports verification and validation through test planning and execution, analysis, troubleshooting, and integration work in laboratory and integrated test environments. It also contributes feedback on integration and testability throughout project phases and collaborates with engineering teams on hardware simulation and fault-injection solutions for real-time vehicle simulations. The position calls for hands-on work throughout mechanical and electronic assembly product development and production, including test equipment development, wiring, hardware installation, and test-bench setup. Applicants must meet Blue Origin’s U.S. work authorization requirements. A standard background check is required; additional checks or credentials may apply to certain job profiles.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with development and execution of large-scale avionics verification for autonomous spaceflight systems.
  • Experience supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems.
  • Experience programming in C++ and/or Python.
  • Simulink experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, build, and integrate electrical/avionics integration hardware, software, and interconnect solutions.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and scripts for standalone and integrated environments.
  • Conduct ad-hoc and formal verification and validation testing.
  • Document test results according to program requirements and communicate risks, issues, and solutions to peers with varied technical backgrounds.
  • Interpret, assess, and analyze integrated electrical/avionics system data.
  • Support integration of vehicle hardware, ground support equipment, operator consoles, and analysis tools needed to verify requirements and performance of units under test in an integrated test environment.
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a laboratory environment.
  • Design, develop, and implement lab test tools and software to automate testing and improve efficiency.
  • Support integration and test activities, including wiring, hardware installation, and test-bench setup.
