About The Position

Tutoring opportunities exist at middle and high schools. Applicants must be willing to work within a variety of content areas with small groups of students under the supervision of a certified teacher in a classroom during the regular school day. Tutors/Interns serve as guides and facilitators of students' learning through questioning, writing, thinking, and discussing. Tutors/Interns may work a minimum of one hour per week, or multiple hours, depending on the tutors' availability.

Requirements

• Active enrollment in higher ed - e.g. college or university
• Pass a background check prior to employment
• Complete AVID Tutor training with AVID Site Coordinator
• Organizational and record keeping skills
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage time and meet obligations with minimal supervision
• Maintain confidentiality
• Perform all functions of the position
