About The Position

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is seeking an Aviation Officer to join their team. This role is crucial for maintaining safety and security at Boston Logan International Airport, a vital gateway to New England. The Aviation Officer will be responsible for monitoring access, conducting inspections, operating screening equipment, and enforcing compliance with TSA and Massport regulations. This position requires a security-minded individual with strong communication and decision-making skills, who can collaborate effectively with various teams and agencies.

Requirements

2+ years of police/security, military experience or law enforcement experience.
Must meet Eligibility Path 1 or 2 (please see detailed job description below)
Military: Minimum 2 years in Military Police, Special Forces, Installation Access Control, or Entry Control Points.
Law Enforcement: Minimum 2 years experience plus either (a) graduation from a recognized police or correctional academy or (b) an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and demonstrate basic oral, written, mathematical, and manual skills including the ability to operate computer and machinery.

Responsibilities

Monitor pedestrian and vehicular traffic at assigned gates, ensuring all individuals and vehicles display valid Massport security badges and permits before entry.
Conduct comprehensive inspections and operate screening equipment to detect prohibited items and prevent unauthorized access to secured areas.
Issue Temporary Visitor Passes and Vehicle Tags after thorough background checks and maintain logs for vehicles requiring escorts and unusual occurrences.
Enforce TSA and Massport compliance, complete necessary documentation, report major security violations, and serve as a member of the first response team when required.
