About The Position

The Aviation Laboratory Assistant supports the daily operation of the college's aviation laboratories, flight training facilities, and simulation equipment. This position assists faculty, flight instructors, and students by maintaining instructional laboratories, preparing equipment for classes, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and supporting aviation education activities. The successful candidate will be organized, safety-conscious, customer-service oriented, and committed to supporting student success.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program in Aviation, Aviation Maintenance, Aerospace Technology, or closely related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • FAA Private Pilot Certificate required or in process; Commercial Pilot Certificate preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations, aviation safety procedures, and flight training operations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and industry partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common aviation software applications.
  • Commitment to aviation safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative instructional team.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to student success.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FAA Part 141 flight schools.
  • Experience operating FAA-approved flight simulators and aviation training devices.
  • Knowledge of aircraft dispatch procedures and scheduling systems.
  • Experience with inventory management and laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare aviation laboratories, classrooms, and simulators for instructional activities.
  • Assist faculty with laboratory demonstrations and hands-on training exercises.
  • Maintain flight simulators, aviation training devices, avionics trainers, and laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate aircraft scheduling support and assist with aircraft dispatch operations as assigned.
  • Conduct routine inspections of laboratory equipment and report maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain inventories of aviation tools, equipment, supplies, charts, and training materials.
  • Assist with aircraft cleaning and light ground support activities in coordination with maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure laboratories comply with OSHA, FAA, college, and departmental safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, equipment logs, and inventory documentation.
  • Assist students with proper use of laboratory equipment and reinforce safe operating procedures.
  • Support FAA Part 141 training documentation and recordkeeping as assigned.
  • Assist during aviation recruitment events, open houses, orientation sessions, and community outreach programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
