Perform work under the direct supervision of skilled and semi-skilled workers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The Aviation Heavy Equipment Service Technician Apprentice shall be trained and perform skilled maintenance and repair work on tractors, fire apparatus, heavy construction equipment, generators, and Electric Vehicles including but not limited to Buses and light duty vehicles, and other standard/special automotive equipment operated by the Aviation Department. This position will perform work under the guidance and general direction of the apprenticeship mentor and supervisor. In addition, the Aviation Heavy Equipment Service Technician Apprentice will be required to attend Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) and earn an Associate of Applied Science in Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology. This is in addition to performing on-the-job semi-skilled tasks in mechanical maintenance.
