The COMNAVAIRPAC Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT) is looking for an experienced Aviation Fuels Mechanic with CVN experience. The experienced technician will conduct material condition assessments, troubleshooting and repairs on various equipment throughout the ship. This is a full-time position, located in San Diego, CA.

Requirements

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 8 years of related experience, to include specific systems expertise.
  • Current or previous experience working on Navy ships.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Experience with the following equipment / systems include but not limited to: JP-5 service pumps, purifiers, transfer pumps, consoles and valves.
  • Experience in below deck fuels operations and topside fuels operations.
  • Experience with JP-5 quality assurance testing evolutions.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, written and electronically.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance, CAC badge and base and ship access.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintan a US Passport. May require underway support.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer technical/professional certifications.
  • A current, active DoD security clearance.
  • A current US Passport.
  • Qualified as a US Navy Master Training Specialist.
  • US Navy background with at least one tour on an aircraft carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Considered subject matter expert in technical specialty. May work directly with customer or customer representatives, attend meetings and deploy for special projects.
  • Ability to manage, oversee, schedule and assign tasks to one or more multiple jobs. Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations.
  • Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
  • Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
  • Train Ships Force on proper assessment techniques.
  • Train Ships Force on using technical documentation such as drawings and technical manuals.
  • Validate equipment installed on CVNs to verify Allowance Parts List (APL) accuracy.
