About The Position

The Department of Aviation and Aerospace Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for future part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. This is an applicant pool for affiliate faculty, and screening will occur when positions become available. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions, and the number varies by semester based on program needs. Not all applicants will be contacted or selected. MSU Denver, established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students, providing affordable, flexible, and holistic education. It is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (gHSI) and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado, serving the most diverse undergraduate student population in the state, including the most first-generation students.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required to teach aviation-related courses such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, airport management, aviation law, and more.
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certification is required to teach FAA pilot ground and aircraft simulator courses such as: Pilot Ground Courses (Private Pilot Ground, Instrument Pilot Ground, Commercial Pilot Ground, Flight Instructor Ground) and Simulator Courses (AES 1710, AES 2710, AES 3710).
  • FAA Part 107 certification is required for UAS/UAV Courses.
  • FAA Certifications must be current according to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in aviation or an aviation-related major.
  • A master’s degree or doctorate in aviation.
  • Four or more years of industry-related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
  • Preparing course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grading student work and providing robust feedback in a timely manner.
  • Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Providing online or in-person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
  • Providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies.
  • Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapting and learning new modes of instruction.
  • Being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
