About The Position

This role involves dual responsibilities as an Avenue Secretary and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). As an Avenue Secretary, you will facilitate the operation of the Avenue by performing secretarial, reception, and related clerical duties. As a CNA, you will assist residents in performing activities of daily living, participate in their daily care, provide personal care, assist with skincare and repositioning, maintain a clean environment, use safe procedures, complete required documentation, and interact with residents, families, and staff.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent or 4 years of relevant working experience
  • Valid NYS certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification
  • Two years prior experience in customer service and office protocol preferred.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office and a medical computer system

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred with additional training in medical terminology
  • Meditech experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the operation of the Avenue by performing secretarial, reception, and related clerical duties.
  • Demonstrate skill in proactively resolving problems, recommending and implementing continuous quality improvements.
  • Demonstrate integrity concerning confidential information.
  • Provide secretarial support to nurse managers on a daily basis.
  • Interact in a courteous and friendly manner with guests, residents, and staff.
  • Assist residents in performing activities of daily living.
  • Participate in the daily care of residents such as checking schedules for resident appointments, completing personal inventory upon admission, reporting care given & observations.
  • Provide personal care to residents such as bathing, dressing, passes nourishment, collecting specimens of urine, stool, and sputum, performing post-mortem care.
  • Assist with skincare and repositioning such as reporting skin breakdown, applying lotion, turning residents side to side, using mechanical lifts, toileting residents.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean environment.
  • Use safe procedures to prevent injuries to residents, self, and others.
  • Complete required documentation such as intake/output forms, vitals, weight.
  • Interact with residents, families, and other staff.
