AV & IT Engineer [Entry Level]

About The Position

An Engineer works with more experienced engineers to design building Plumbing/Fire Protection systems. Responsibilities and Duties System Design: Calculations Provides draft of equipment cooling load for mechanical engineers. Works with senior engineers on data room placements based on TIA standards. Learns how to model wireless access point locations based on RF signal using Ekahau or similar software. System Design: Drafting Works with supervisor to layout conduit, cable tray and data equipment utilizing Revit 3D software. Produces drawing sets, including but not limited to, drawing notes, details, and single line diagrams. Places equipment, such as racks, patch panels, data cables, ground bars and network equipment. Gains understanding of different AV and IT system types. Construction Administration Conducts preliminary review of submittments and RFIs. Sustainability Gains experience working on sustainable projects. Gains familiarity with various certifications (LEED, etc.). Design Coordination Collaborates with fellow AV & IT engineers within their studio. Learns how other trades affect AV & IT designs. Asks meaningful questions. Client Interface Attends AV needs assessment with clients. Provides product data references. Presents self in a professional manner when interacting with external stakeholders. Code/References Familiarizes themselves with international and local building codes. Learns IT BICSI standards and practices. Learns AV AVIXA standards and practices. Additional tasks as requested.
