About The Position

The AV Installation Technician is responsible for the installation of commercial and residential audiovisual, security and other ip/network-based systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Minimum of one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have current driver's license with good driving history (no more than 2 minor violations and/or 1 major violation within the previous 12 months).
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Understanding of computers and how they integrate with AV and security system technologies (required).
• Must be willing to drive company vehicles to various client sites on a daily basis.
• Overnight travel is required for this position in order to meet specific client deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Operate projecting equipment used for displaying multi-media in small conference rooms, auditoriums and/or lecture halls.
• Connects low voltage wiring.
• Terminates and repairs cables.
• Installs wall plates, wall boxes and terminal boards.
• Troubleshoots faulty equipment or systems to working condition.
• Makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment and notifies appropriate personnel when correction of major malfunction is required.
• Positions, installs and connects equipment such as security cameras, projectors, microphones, amplifiers and lighting controls.
• Measures distances accurately to lay out work according to design.
• Drills holes and bolts metal framework and supports in place.
• Cuts, drills and fits brackets, supports, covers and fixtures from metal sheet, strap or bar stock.
• Bolts and screws control panels and assembled operating units to framework.
• Pulls wiring through conduit.
• Communicate all project variances with the AV Installation Manager
• Attend all Pre-project meetings
• Adhere to scheduled appointment times
• It is the installer’s responsibility to arrive and communicate all complications with arrival time with Camera Corner customers.
• Obtain Install packet
• Complete departure checklist
• Adhere to all job site policies
• Adhere to all safety policies of the job site
• Complete arrival checklist
• Go over packing list with client and have him/her sign
• Installers must adhere to all building codes
• Camera Corner has adopted InfoComm practices as a standard
• Follow the scope of work to provide the required solution
• Complete the Install Materials Sheet
• Complete the Systems Checkout List
• Demonstrate system with customer to verify operation
• Train customer on use of the system
• Hands off of project to the programmer (if applicable)
• Confirm control of all equipment connected to control system
• Complete Post Installation Review and Project Survey
• Complete the Process Flow Chart
• Attend Post Installation Meeting
• Turn in all project checklists to Director of Installation
• Turn in Packing List to warehouse
• Adhere to work schedule requirements including a lunch break
• Attend all scheduled department meetings (if not able to attend, provide advanced notice to your supervisor or the Projects Coordinator
• Submit Daily Activity Log prior to leaving work for the day
• Submit signed work order (or SOW) for billing to Project Coordinator no later than the day after obtaining client’s signature (if/when applicable)
• Meet performance standards of the department (goals & objectives)
