About The Position

Diversified Services Network, Inc. (DSN) is seeking a full-time Autonomy Systems Engineer for its Surface Loading Autonomy team. The role supports development of autonomous construction machines, including excavators, wheel loaders, and articulated trucks. The engineer integrates autonomy solutions with base machines, helps define requirements and system architecture, works hands-on with onboard electronics, and coordinates with other teams to implement, validate, and demonstrate autonomous solutions. The position is fully onsite and split between office work and hands-on machine work at a proving ground, including approximately 20% at the proving ground. The role is part of a broader autonomy program, collaborating with local and other US-based teams as well as global team members. Personal protective equipment will be provided for proving-ground work. Salary expectations are $80,000–$85,000 annually.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution and 5–7 years of professional experience, or a master’s degree and a full 5 years of experience.
Proven experience as a Systems Engineer supporting product development of autonomous machines, including hardware and software integration.
Experience collaborating with systems integration and validation teams to validate hardware and software in the lab and on machines.
Knowledge of and experience with construction equipment such as articulated dump trucks, hydraulic excavators, and wheel loaders.
Ability to support production products through design, implementation, customer rollout, and support.
Experience with autonomy hardware, including vision systems (camera, lidar, radar), GNSS, and IMU.
Knowledge of on-machine electrical systems and best practices, including harnessing and wiring.
Experience integrating autonomy protocols and software, including CAN, Ethernet, and ROS2.
Strong working knowledge of centralized machine command and control system architectures in mining or construction.
Ability to use data-driven arguments, active listening, and tailored messaging to influence decisions and build consensus while keeping leadership and external partners informed.
Detail-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, and stays current on advancements in the autonomy and mining industries.

Responsibilities

Install, commission, and test autonomy hardware on machines.
Flash machine software and validate proper functionality.
Support prototype and test machine builds and updates.
Monitor CAN and Ethernet traffic on machines and validate data.
Troubleshoot connectivity and data issues, including wiring, harness, sensor, positioning-system, and time-synchronization problems.
Partner with machine development teams on-machine to determine how to deliver autonomous features and resolve issues.
Lead or support system integration, functional testing, and validation activities.
Decompose customer requirements into system-level technical requirements.
Document system architecture, design decisions, and success criteria with clear traceability, ensuring understanding and compliance across subsystem teams.
Coordinate activities across autonomy development, machine system development, and machine validation teams, including global team members.
Communicate system readiness, technical risks, designs, and trade-offs among time, resources, and quality to stakeholders at multiple levels.
Help develop and execute standard work.
Serve as a subject matter expert for surface loading machine autonomous solutions.
