Autonomy Integration - Team Lead, Principal Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Team Lead for our Autonomy Integration team. This role involves leading a high visibility team to drive and deliver on key Engineering objectives, with a focus on the on-road performance of the AV. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing cross-functional processes, interacting closely with various teams, and ensuring the successful launch of our autonomous driving software. This role requires a deep technical foundation, the ability to resolve ambiguity, and a focus on delivering on-road performance.

• Leads and continuously develops a high performing team
• Works closely within autonomy teams to integrate cutting-edge modules into the system
• Defines and maintains AV performance metrics
• Acts as the technical representative of Autonomy to the rest of the company
• Works cross-functionally to integrate the entire system including Hardware, Software, Autonomy stack
• Plans, designs, and implements the integration process
• Executes program with a focus on technical execution to achieve program milestones
• Works with Program Managers and Engineers to set program priorities
• Actively and proactively manages and mitigates technical risks
• Has hands-on experience with in-field work in robotics
• Has experience leading a team of 10+ Engineers in a value-driven organization
• Has experience bringing a new product to commercial market
• Has 5+ years of professional experience in autonomous driving or robotics industry
• Has a strong understanding of robotics systems including sensors, actuators, mechanical, algorithms, and software systems
• Has experience with system/software/hardware architecture
• Proficient in writing C++/Python
• Demonstrates problem-solving skills and ability to think logically
• Can work independently on large vaguely defined problems
• Solves complicated problems in a fast-paced environment
• Has experience working on and leading large-scale cross-functional projects
• Has a flexible schedule and willingness to attend evening/night meetings
• Has strong teamwork and communication skills
• Can work independently and take ownership of delivery
• Open to 25% travel to work with autonomous vehicles publicly deployed on roads
• Masters or PhD (preferred) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related area or 5+ years industry experience in controls for automotive systems is preferred.

• Proficiency writing C++/Python
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to think logically and remove bias from evaluation of problems
• Ability to work independently on large vaguely defined problems
• Solving complicated problems in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working on and leading large scale cross-functional projects
