About The Position

We are currently looking for Research Interns to join our team in Silicon Valley, California for the summer of 2026 (Jun, Jul, Aug) to work with the Finished Vehicles Logistics Autonomy team. We are hiring Research Interns who can apply machine learning technologies, perception and control to enable new opportunities with Autonomous Driving Vehicles. Specifically, we are engaged in developing software that enables autonomous driving of vehicles with minimal sensing and low power computing. You will be learning not only the day-to-day responsibilities of a researcher within our facility but will be tasked with completing a project that directly supports the goals of the Nissan and autonomously drives cars.

Requirements

  • Currently be pursuing a Master’s, or PhD degree in Core Engineering discipline.
  • Enrolled in a full-time Master’s or Ph.D. degree program in Robotics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative discipline.
  • Familiarity with robotics, controls, perception, and IOT techniques.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, C/C++, etc.) and AI coding tools.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above (Candidates will be required to provide an official or unofficial transcript during the application process for verification.)
  • Ability to work on site.
  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be required to provide proof of employment eligibility at the time of hire; Nissan uses E-Verify to validate employment eligibility.

  • Potential Areas of Work: During your internship, you will be working with the team in our simulated and real environment to develop the required software for one of the following projects: Machine Learning Pipeline. Radar and vision-based parking in a tight environment. Multi-sensory localization.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the team’s daily activities (stand-up call, backlog reviews, spring planning)
  • Work on your specific project (proposal, technical design, coding and testing in simulation)
  • Participate in testing code (including yours) on actual vehicles on our test track.
  • Participate in various overall campus activities.
