About The Position

The Automotive Worker performs a variety of minor repairs and services to maintain motor vehicles, duties that require an understanding of simple vehicle maintenance. Performs all work in accordance to the applicable Technical Manual for the vehicle and work assigned. Must be able recognize and know proper usage of a variety of automotive tools. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years’ experience and specific knowledge in vehicle maintenance either through schooling or verifiable on the job experience
  • Must have or be able to obtain site forklift and other licenses/certifications
  • Must have a valid and current state driver’s license
  • Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals
  • Ability to manipulate and use hand tools and hydraulic equipment
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance and repair of military tactical vehicles, as well as lawn mower (push, riding, zero turn), ATV, side by side, HMMWV, light wheeled trailers
  • ASE and/or Diesel Mechanic Certifications
  • Experience in field repairs and recovery

Responsibilities

  • Places and maintains decals on vehicles
  • Checks and replaces batteries
  • Rotates, repairs, and replaces tires
  • Washes, polishes, and cleans interiors and exteriors of vehicles
  • Drains, flushes, and replaces engine, transmission, and differential grease and oils
  • Checks, cleans, calibrates, and replaces spark plugs
  • Cleans and replaces oil and air filters
  • Adjusts brakes
  • Replaces windshield wipers, and similar minor parts
  • Assists on major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts
  • Repairing components such as generators and water pumps
  • Replacing thermostats, points, electrical wiring and other items
  • Maintains tools and equipment
  • Cleans work areas
  • Completes paperwork associated with vehicle maintenance and repairs
