About The Position

As a Wheel Remanufacturing Technician II, you will work on-site in our Dent Wizard wheel remanufacturing facility, fixing cosmetic damages such as curb and road rash, peeling, scrapes, gouges, oxidation, and bent wheels using power tools and work aids. Tasks include inspecting wheels, prepping, truing, and buffing defects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar environment
  • Must be proficient in automotive parts preparation, reconditioning, buffing and sanding
  • Knowledge of wheel repair and restoration techniques
  • Great communication skills to interact with customers
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive-motion tasks; proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work independently
  • Toughness and grit to work outside in all kinds of weather
  • Work in well-ventilated automotive repair shops or refurbishing facilities
  • Physical stamina to frequently kneel, bend and squat, as well as lift up to 45 pounds; lift heavy wheels and work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly inspect wheels for damage, cracks, bends, or other issues.
  • Evaluate the extent of damage to determine the repair or refurbishment required.
  • Strip the old finish or paint from the wheels using remanufacturing industry standard techniques.
  • Clean and degrease the wheel surfaces to prepare them for repair.
  • Sand, grind, or use other methods to smooth out imperfections and remove rust or corrosion.
  • Prepare polish wheels for the polishers.
  • Operate and maintain polishers to industry standard.
  • True or straighten wheels to correct bends or dents.
  • Prep wheels to ensure a smooth and even surface.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure that the wheels meet safety and appearance standards.
  • Make any necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
